DH Conley cross country teams complete regular season

   The DH Conley Cross Country teams finished the regular season with meets at the Great American Cross Country Festival in Cary, NC on Oct. 6 and ECC meet at Boyd Lee Park on Oct. 10.

 

Great American Cross Country Festival

   The DH Conley boys placed 11th out of 25 schools in their division and the Viking girls placed 22nd out of 38 schools in their division at the Great American Cross Country Festival. Teams from across the southeastern United States competed in the meet. 

   

   Peyton Walters led the Vikings with a 24th individual finish, running a personal best time of 16:46 for the 5k course. Also running for the Vikings was Owen Thorndike (39th, 15:59), Seth McKinney (41st, 17:00), Jalen Wilson (73rd, 17:38), AJ Miller (89th, 18:00), Toby Bryson (107th, 18:16) and Eli Orians (115th, 18:26). A total of 181 runners completed the race.

 

   Jennifer Perez was Conley's top finisher, placing 46th with a time of 20:40, followed by Annika Stoakes (123rd, 22:00). Behind them, in a tight group, was Alice Guth (149th, 22:20), Olivia Chiancone (173rd, 22:45), Channing Mitchell (177th, 22:47), Hannah Higgens (211th, 23:26) and Hayley Ferrell (219th 23:42). A total of 287 runners completed the race.

ECC 3A/4A meet

 

   The DH Conley boys placed five runners in the top 10 to win their final regular season meet at Boyd Lee Park Oct. 10, while the Lady Vikings finished third in the girls meet with two runners finishing in the top 10.

 

   AJ Miller took first place in the meet with a time of 17:42. Kyle Hardee (3rd, 19:27), Kevin Payton (5th, 19:50), Nate McPherson (7th, 19:59) and Will Vodicka (9th, 20:00) posted some of their fastest times of the season to propel the Viking boys team to the win. 

 

   On the girls side, the Vikings were led by freshmen Alyssa Rambert (7th, 25:15) and Caitlin Brown (10th, 25:32), who each ran personal best times.

   The Vikings' next meet is Wednesday, Oct. 17 in the ECC 3A/4A conference championships at Boyd Lee Park.
