The DH Conley boys soccer team won at New Bern 3-2 on Tuesday to hand New Bern their first conference loss of the season.
New Bern held a 1-0 lead going into the second half but the Vikings evened the score when junior captain Cody McLaughlin sent a 30-yard header up the field to senior Coleman Ferrell, who put the shot away.
Midway through the second hal,f sophomore Dallin Willets scored off of a cross placed perfectly by Ferrell to put the Vikings up 2-1. Not long after, sophomore Haiden Respass scored to give Conley a 3-1 advantage. New Bern later added a goal on a penalty kick to close out the scoring.
The Vikings improve to 12-4-1 on the season, 4-2 in conference play and will play three conference games over three consecutive days next week, beginning with a home match vs Southern Wayne at 6 p.m. on Oct. 16.
