Rapper Petey Pablo has teamed up with Raleigh's Neuse River Brewing Company for a craft beer named Petey’s Pale Ale.

The "American Pale Ale brewed with guava" fruit will be available beginning May 5 at the brewery, 518 Pershing Road, and participating craft beer retailers.

A Greenville native whose real name is Moses Barrett III, Petey is a Grammy nominated artist with two platinum-selling albums. His hits include 2001's "Raise Up" and 2004's "Freek-a-Leek."

“Growing up in NC, I used to listen to 'Raise Up' with my friends and took my shirt off and raised it over my head like a helicopter just like thousands of other kids across the state and country,” Neuse River Brewing Company owner Ryan Kolarov said in a press release.

"Being able to partner with Petey to bring Petey’s Pale Ale to market is the perfect blend of hip hop and artisanal beer and we’re sure our fans and his will enjoy it immensely.”

Petey shared an article about the beer release on his Instagram account April 11 and added the comment, "This has really been an incredible year for me picking up the pieces that were shattered and putting them all back into their proper places is one of the most amazing feelings to feel."

Petey, who now lives in Raleigh, currently is on a nationwide tour with Chingy and the Ying Yang Twins. He plans to release a "mix tape" of new music this summer.

In April 2017, he made a surprise appearance at Sup Dogs' Doggie Jams concert in Greenville,

Recently he launched an online store. For each sale of his “Hate is Ugly on Everyone” T-shirt, $1 will be donated to groups that foster tolerance, inclusion and anti-bullying programs.
