Jack Brown's Beer and Burger Joint is planning to open at 805 Dickinson Avenue.
The "bar with a burger menu" joins the business district's growing list of craft beer and hip food establishments.
A date for the opening has not been released.
It's a regional chain with six locations in Virginia, three in Tennessee and one in Birmingham, Ala.
First, the food.
Jack Brown's award-winning burgers are made with Wagyu beef -- tender, succulent American-raised Kobe-style beef with a high degree of marbling and depth of flavor. They're cooked on a flat-top grill and served on Martin's potato rolls with a house-made signature sauce.
The burgers are "a creative twist on an American classic ... don't ask for lettuce and tomato," the website states.
The daily burger menu includes:
* The Danny Laruso burger, topped with cream cheese and Jalapeno jelly.
* The Chiflet burger, topped with Applewood smoked bacon, egg and cheese.
* The Elvis burger, topped with peanut butter, mayo, Applewood smoked bacon and cheese.
* The Greg Brady burger, topped with house-made mac and cheese and Martin's BBQ potato chips.
Each day there's a special featured burger as well.
Crinkle-cut french fries and sweet potato fries are offered, along with fried Oreos.
Now, for the beer!
Jack Brown's offers more than 100 craft beers, "from around the corner and around the world," the website states.
Craft beers include White Zombie Ale from Catawba Brewing Co. in Morganton; Milk Sout from The Duck-Rabbit Craft Brewery in Farmville; Suzy B Blonde Ale from Southern Prohibition Brwing in Hattiesburg, Miss.; Big Wave Golden Ale from Kona Brewing Company in Kailua Kona, Hawaii; The Love Wheat Beer from Starr Hill Brewery in Crozet, Va.; Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter from Horny Goat Brewing Co. in Milwaukee; and Jai Alai IPA from Cigar City Brewing in Tampa, Fla.
The beverage menu also includes hard ciders, ginger beers and fruit beers.
Jack Brown's was founded by childhood friends and drinking buddies Aaron Ludwig and Mike Sabin, who designed the beer and burger joint they wanted to hang out in.
“We like mid-sized cities that have life and a lot of fun,” regional manager Brent Hill said, according to an Uptown Greenville press release. “Greenville has been on our radar for a long while.”
All of the Jack Brown's locations are housed in existing buildings with eclectic decor Hill describes as "Grandpa's garage."
The Dickinson Avenue corridor is home to Pitt Street Brewing Company and Trollingwood Brewery, along with restaurants Dickinson Avenue Public House, Luna Pizza Cafe and Smash Waffle's cafe.
We'll publish more details about the Greenville location of Jack Brown's Beer and Burger Joint closer to its opening date.
