Farmville's Plank Road Steak House, 3689 E. Wilson St., is celebrating the season with menu specials.
Plank Road is best known for its expertly grilled steaks, abundant fresh salad bar, popular cocktail bar and outdoor dining patio with live entertainment. It's all contained in a renovated brick building honoring Pitt County's history -- from the photos and artifacts on the walls to the name that memorializes the wooden toll road that once ran from Greenville to Farmville.
Owner James Lloyd is marking his first year as owner of the restaurant. He took over the reins in September 2016 from Susan and Bert Smith, who opened the restaurant in 2009.
The seasonal menu created by Lloyd and chef Shannon Foster features appetizers and entrees with a taste of fall flavors.
Plank Road Steak Flatbread ($12) is topped with creamy alfredo sauce, grilled steak, caramelized onions and Blue Cheese crumbles.
Oysters Carolina ($10) features six oysters on a half-shell dressed with collards, bacon and cheese.
Fried Okra ($7) is served with house-made Siracha sauce.
Seasonal entrees include Cilantro Lime Marinated Flat Iron Steak ($25) served on a bed of roasted corn and black bean relish.
Espresso-Rubbed Sirloin ($24) is served on a bed of butternut squash hash.
Braised Beef Short Ribs ($24) are presented with homemade collards and red wine reduction.
Grilled Honey Sage Pork Chops ($22) are served on a bed or pimento cheese grits and greens.
A house-made slice of bourbon pecan pie is a fall treat. There's also scratch-made pumpkin spice brulee.
Plank Road Steak House is open for dinner four nights a week: from 5-9 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays and from 5-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
