Where's Santa? A guide to holiday events in Greenville

 

 Santa and his helpers will make a number of appearances in Greenville this Christmas season.

 

 The jolly ol' elf will be visiting holiday breakfasts, waving from the last float in parades, posing for photos, and hearing Christmas wishes at local events.

 

 Here's Santa's area schedule:

 

Monday, Nov. 27-Dec. 24

 

 Mall hours: Santa will be at The Santa Photo Experience daily at The Greenville Mall, 714 SE Greenville Blvd.

 Photo packages are offered for a fee.

 

Thursday, Nov. 30

 

 4-8 p.m.: Ayden Christmas Town Celebration and Parade in downtown Ayden, sponsored by The Ayden Chamber of Commerce

 The town's Christmas celebration includes hay rides, carolers, snow machines, a Christmas gift market with vendors, food trucks on West Avenue, and restaurant specials.

 Santa and Mrs. Claus will be at the Christmas Village from 4-6:30 p.m. before participating in the parade.
 The Christmas Parade of Lights begins at 6:30 p.m. on Lee Street. The parade will turn right onto Third Street at Quality Tire, left at Town Hall onto West Avenue, left onto Second Street at the Fire Department, left at Oakley Auto Body onto MLK and left onto Third. It will end when it takes a right back onto Lee Street.

Friday, Dec. 1

 

 

 5:30-7 p.m.: Greenville Gives, hosted by Uptown Greenville and Greenville Recreation & Parks, outdoors at Five Points Plaza, corner of Fifth and Evans streets.
 Greenville's annual tree-lighting ceremony includes community performances, horse-drawn carriage rides, trolley rides, reading of "'Twas The Night Before Christmas," a holiday market, crafts, free treats from local businesses -- and Santa!
 Free admission. Bring a nonperishable food donation to benefit those in need.

 

 5:30-8:30 p.m.: Santa’s Lab at A Time for Science's Greenville Center, 729 Dickinson Ave.
 The evening will include science experiments, pictures with Santa, cookies, hot chocolate, and story time.

 6-8 p.m.: Hay Ride and Story Time with Santa, Raised in a Barn Farm, 2100 NC 33, Chocowinity

  The event includes a hayride around the farm with Christmas music (weather permitting), a craft session to make a keepsake ornament, cookies, hot cocoa and story time with Santa.

 Cost is $25 per child and one parent for the hay ride, an additional $5 for an additional parent on the hay ride.

 Photo sessions with holiday decor are available, with or without Santa, for an additional fee.

 No purchase is necessary to visit with Santa, but printed or emailed photos may be purchased ($10 for one emailed digital photo or $15 for one printed photo).

 

 5-7 p.m.: Dinner with Santa and Mrs. Claus at Chick-fil-A of Winterville, 4239 Winterville Parkway

 No fee.

 

 6-8 p.m.: Hay Ride and Story Time with Santa, Raised in a Barn Farm, 2100 NC 33, Chocowinity

  The event includes a hayride around the farm with Christmas music (weather permitting), a craft session to make a keepsake ornament, cookies, hot cocoa and story time with Santa.

 10 a.m.-noon: Santa Cares event for families of children with special needs to visit Santa at The Greenville Mall, 714 SE Greenville Blvd.
 Santa Cares provides a compassionate environment to visit The Santa Photo Experience. Simple adjustments are made to reduce sensory stimuli (such as lights, music and waiting for Santa at activity tables) to create a calming environment.
 The event is free, and Santa photo packages will be available for purchase. Registration is required; click here.

  Cost is $10 for one child in a photo; $15 for two children in one photo; $20 for three or more children in a photo. Reservations must be made in advance by emailing brendafamilysupport@gmail.com. Proceeds benefit the Family Support Network of Eastern North Carolina.

Thursday, Dec. 7

 

  6 p.m.: Story Time with Santa at the Greenville Convention Center, 303 S.W. Greenville Blvd.
  Cost is $10 for one child in a photo; $15 for two children in one photo; $20 for three or more children in a photo.

 9-10:30 a.m.: Breakfast with Santa at the Chick-fil-A of Winterville, 4239 Winterville Parkway

 No fee.

 

 9-11 a.m.: Holiday Breakfast and Visit with St. Nick at the Greenville Museum of Art, 802 S. Evans St.

 The event includes breakfast, digital photo with Santa and a keepsake craft.

 Cost is $50 per family ($35 for GMA-member families). Bring an unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots.

 2 p.m.: Winterville Christmas Parade, Main Street, Winterville

 

 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m.: Greenville Jaycees Christmas Parade: A Miracle on Evans Street
 The parade -- featuring floats, community groups, bands and Santa Claus -- begins at the Town Common on West First Street and proceeds up Evans Street to Read Cicle and ends at the corner of Reade and Third streets.

 

 6-8 p.m.: Hay Ride and Story Time with Santa, Raised in a Barn Farm, 2100 NC 33, Chocowinity

  The event includes a hayride around the farm with Christmas music (weather permitting), a craft session to make a keepsake ornament, cookies, hot cocoa and story time with Santa.

  Bring an ornament for the outdoor Christmas tree. Free photos with Santa. Free nacho bar for kids ages 12 and under.

Tuesday, Dec. 12

 

 6-7 and 7-8 p.m.: Smiles and Sweets with Santa, Gwendy's Goodies, 514 Second St., Ayden

 Hour-long party with a special cupcake or two sugar cookies, hot cocoa bar, decorate-your-own-ornament table, and a 4x6-photo with Santa. Tickets are $20 plus fees.

Friday, Dec. 15

 

  6-8 p.m.: Hay Ride and Story Time with Santa, Raised in a Barn Farm, 2100 NC 33, Chocowinity  The event includes a hayride around the farm with Christmas music (weather permitting), a craft session to make a keepsake ornament, cookies, hot cocoa and story time with Santa.

 Cost is $25 per child and one parent for the hay ride, an additional $5 for an additional parent on the hay ride.

 6-8:30 p.m.: Winter Wonderland at Vidant Wellness Center Outdoor Family Park, 2610 Stantonsburg Road
 The outdoor family event features wellness activities and games for all ages including rides on Thomas the Train, Zumba with Frozen characters, and visits and photos with Santa. Bring a gift to be donated to the Ronald McDonald House of Eastern North Carolina.

 2-3:30 p.m.: Holiday Kids' Event, Greenville Aquatics & Fitness Center, 921 Staton Road

 Kids may visit with Santa and Ms. Claus and make arts and crafts.

 Free and open to the public.

 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays-Fridays: Festival of Trees to benefit the Family Support Network at the Greenville Convention Center, 303 SW Greenville Blvd.
 More than 100 trees have been transformed by community groups and businesses into a different holiday theme. Free admission; donations accepted.

Thursday, Nov. 30

 

 5:30-8:30 p.m.: Jingle Art Jam Taste of Uptown and Preview Sale, Emerge Gallery & Art Center, 404 S. Evans St.
 The annual preview party of the holiday artists market includes food samples from local restaurants, a beer tasting, live music by Steve Creech, holiday photo booth keepsake, and mini jewelry workshop. Tickets are $20 per person and $30 per couple. Call 252-551-6947.
 The annual sale of handmade fine arts and crafts will continue through Dec. 22. 

Friday, Dec. 1

 

 6:30-9 p.m.: Festival of Trees Gala Event at the Greenville Convention Center, 303 SW Greenville Blvd.
 Live and silent auctions with a Christmas in the Carolinas theme.

Saturday, Dec. 2

 

 9 a.m.-4 p.m.: Christmas Homes Tour and Bazaar hosted by St. Paul's Episcopal Church
 Seven Greenville homes, decorated for Christmas, will be open for tours. Tickets are $25 per person and are available at the church, 401 E. Fourth St.
 A Christmas bazaar will be held at the church from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; free admission. Call 252-752-3482. 

 

 Noon-1 p.m.: Tuba Christmas sponsored by the ECU School of Music in front of A.J. Fletcher Music Building on campus.
 Any community musician who plays baritone, euphonium, tuba or sousaphone is invited to participate for $10; registration begins at 11:30 a.m.There is no fee to attend. The event

Sunday, Dec. 3

 

 1 p.m.: The 13th annual Reindeer Dash for Cash 10 Miler and 5K run at the Greenville Town Common, 100 E. First St.  The race is a fundraising event to benefit the Capt. Christopher Cash Memorial Foundation of N.C. scholarship fund.

 2 p.m.: ECU School of Music Holiday Concert in Wright Auditorium.
 Musical selections will include holiday favorites and a tribute to military stationed overseas during the holidays. Free admission.

 7:30 p.m.: ECU School of Music Choirs Holiday Concert at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 401 E. Fourth St
 Free admission.

Tuesday, Dec. 5

 

 7 p.m.: Pitt Community College Symphony Orchestra Holiday Concert at Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church, 510 S. Washington St.

 The symphony will perform Christmas favorites including "Sleigh Ride"  and "March of the Toys." The PCC Chorale will be perform “Suo Gan”and “Jingle Bells.” The Pitt County School Early College Choir will be perform“Mary Did You Know”.

  There is no admission fee for this family-friendly concert.

Saturday, Dec. 9

 

 1-4 p.m.: HOPE Farms Holiday Festival, Hope Farms and Learning Center, 872 Briey Road
 Activities include a family-friendly hay ride, train ride, cookie decorating, baking contest, vendor fair, and cookie and hot chocolate bar.
 Admission is free; prices for activities and products vary. 2-3 p.m.: Greenville Choral Society Children's Chorus, Bella Voce and Youth Chorale Winter Center, The Memorial Baptist Church, 1510 SW Greenville Blvd.
 Free admission; bring a stuffed animal to donate to the TEDI BEAR Children's Advocacy Center.

 7:30 p.m.: Christmas Concert featuring The Greenville Community Pops Singers, John Paul II Catholic High School, 2725 E. 14th St.

Saturday, Dec. 16

 

 7-8:30 p.m.: Greenville Choral Society's Christmas Cantata, The Memorial Baptist Church, 1510 SE Greenville Blvd.
 The GCS Concert Choir will present a free performance of "Hodie" (This Day), a Christmas cantata by Ralph Vaughn Williams.
 Free admission; bring a stuffed animal to donate to the TEDI BEAR Children's Advocacy Center.
