Smash Waffles' employment application is as creative as its products

Smash Waffles are a delicious and creative treat -- and so is the company's employment application.

Amid the traditional questions about an applicant's job history are such "super-duper personal questions" as "How many bowls of cereal have you eaten in your lifetime?" and "Do you speak Pig Latin?" (responses are Yesyay or Onay).

Smash Waffles, a Belgian waffle delivery service with a mobile Smash Shack, is hiring for its soon-to-open storefront locations in Greenville and Raleigh.

Owners and creators Justin Cox and Hunter Harrison are former bankers who opened Smash Waffles as a delivery service in Pitt County in December 2016.

Specialty waffles -- made with dough instead of batter and smashed in a cast iron waffle iron -- are available in a number of flavors and with different toppings.

Popular varieties include The O.G. (signature waffle topped with honey, cinnamon cream sauce and powdered sugar); and The Campfire (signature waffle topped with marshmallow cream sauce, Nutella drizzle, graham cracker crumbles and powdered sugar).

"Our creations are inspired by our crazy personalities, childhood nostalgia, and good ol' fashioned 'scratch' cooking," Hunter and Justin state on the Smash Waffles website.

Justin, a musician who is passionate about cooking, is responsible for the original Belgian waffle recipe.

And Hunter, an artist and social media marketer, is responsible for the Smash Waffle's clever marketing and branding that's hip and humorous.
