The Shave on Fifth, a full-service barbershop, opened today (Nov. 2, 2017) at 212 E. Fifth St. in downtown Greenville.
Services include hot lather shaves, beard trims and haircuts, which include a complimentary neck shave and hot towel massage.
Owner Mike Maida is a licensed barber and cosmetologist whose family has generations of experience with barbering and hair styling. He trained at the Paul Mitchell School in Atlanta and worked at American Haircuts.
He and his wife Emily, a Greenville native, have relocated here from metro Atlanta.
“The vibe of Uptown reminds us of a smaller midtown Atlanta and we both love seeing all the additions of retail shops, restaurants, yoga studios, pop-up shops, arts and events in Uptown,” Maida is quoted as saying in a press release from Uptown Greenville. “We want to support the growth of this area.”
The Shave on Fifth is located in an historic building at 212 E. Fifth St., which has been restored and revitalized, with exposed brick, rich wood and touches of iron and leather.
The shop has four chairs, and Maida said he hopes to expand to six or eight chairs.
The Shave on Fifth serves coffee from its neighbor Blackbeard Coffee Roasters.
Walk-ins are welcome, and booking is available online or through The Shave on Fifth App.
