D.H. Conley High School senior quarterback Holton Ahlers has been selected for the North Carolina roster for the 2017 Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas football game.
The 81st annual Shrine Bowl game will be played Dec. 16 at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC.
The nation's first high school football all-star game, The Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas features many of the top high school players from North and South Carolina.
Holton, who has committed to play for East Carolina University, is the No. 1 ranked quarterback in the state by 247Sports.
As a junior, Holton was named 2016 Associated Press NC All State QB and the 2016 Eastern Carolina 3A/4A Conference Offensive Player of the Year and 1st Team All Conference QB.
The game benefits the Greenville (South Carolina) Unit Shriners Hospital for Children and the 21 other Shriners Hospitals for Children across the nation. Children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate are eligible for care and receive all services in a family-centered environment, regardless of the patients' ability to pay.
Since its inception in 1937, the game has raised more than $75 million dollars for Shriners Hospitals.
