Country music concert on Aug. 19 features 3 acts originally booked for Carolina Kickoff

A revamped country music concert featuring the three groups originally scheduled to open for country superstar Blake Shelton in Greenville will be held Aug. 19.
Tickets are on sale now for the concert featuring Big & Rich, Parmalee and Tucker Beathard in East Carolina University's Williams Arena at Minges Coliseum.
The show is being billed by its organizers as a 2017 Carolina Kickoff Pre-Party.
Tickets are $24, available at ecutickets.net. Admission to the concert is free to ticket-holders for the Carolina Kickoff Concert.
The three country music acts performing in the Aug. 19 concert already were slated to be in Greenville on that date to perform in the second annual Carolina Kickoff Concert. Shelton also was booked by the concert promoters. The concert was scheduled to be held outdoors in ECU's Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium as a build-up to the Pirates' first home football game of the season.
On Aug. 2, Basis Entertainment announced in a press release that the concert was being postponed until April 21. The company cited "the timing of the show in the market, as well as the potential damage that would come to the football field right before the football season begins" as the reasons for the schedule change.

An ECU spokesman said in a press release that the promoters were informed that they would be billed more money to replace the grass on the football field that would be damaged during the concert.

“After being informed about the anticipated cost increase to replace the turf on Bagwell Field compared to last year and ticket sales, we support Basis Entertainment’s decision to reschedule the concert,” said ECU Associate Director of Athletics J.J. McLamb.
Shelton won't be available on the rescheduled April concert date, so the organizers said they are putting together a new lineup. Artists have not been announced. Tickets purchased for the original concert will be honored for the new show.
Shelton said on his Twitter account, "Hello to my fans in Greenville and the surrounding area. I wanna be clear that the Greenville concert cancel had NOTHING to do with me/my camp. I was ready to play! The show has been rescheduled to April and, as you know, every April and May for the last five years I have a commitment at The Voice. I love Greenville! I’ll be back ASAP!”
Local country rockers Parmalee announced on Aug 10 in Facebook Live broadcast that the Carolina Kickoff Pre-Concert will serve as their annual Homecoming Concert, as well as a release party for their new album, "27861." The album title is the zip code for nearby Parmale, NC, the town that gave the band its name.
For the Aug. 19 concert, parking and "adult hospitality" opens at 3 p.m. Doors to Minges Coliseum open at 5 p.m. and the show begins at 6:30 p.m.
