The new Robert Lee Cherry Fishing Pier at the Town Common, 101 E. First St., will be dedicated at noon Saturday, April 22.
Following the dedication, Friends of the Greenville Greenways (FROGGS) will hold its annual potluck at the Shade Garden and Off Leash Dog Park.
We stopped by Thursday to check out the new wooden pier on the Tar River -- and found that it already is a big hit with locals.
Fisherman Jamel Eleutiza, a student at Altitude Academy of Barbering through the Continuing Education program at Pitt Community College, was catching pike and carp from the pier.
And Knee Deep Adventures had customers leaving in rented kayaks for Tar River treks.
