The Down East Walk to Defeat ALS will be held Saturday, April 15 at East Carolina University's Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, Ficklen Drive and Berkley Road.
Check-in is at 9 a.m. and the 2-mile walk begins at 10 a.m.
The event also includes music and food.
Teams or individuals may register online to participate in the walk. There is no fee to participate, but walkers are encouraged to solicit pledges for the ALS Association.
Donations may be made online.
The local walk has a fundraising goal of $90,000. It's hosted by The ALS Association's North Carolina chapter.
National Walk to Defeat ALS events raise funds that allow local chapters to sustain care services and support research. The North Carolina chapter supports the state's ALS clinics, operates 14 monthly support groups, loans medical equipment and provides financial assistance grants to help with ALS-related expenses.
