Pirate Pigskin Pig-out is April 21-22

The 34th annual East Carolina University Pigskin Pig-out will be held April 21-22 at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium, Ficklen Drive and Berkley Road. Festivities include a pig-cooking competition with 40 teams, movie night, meet and greet with the 2017 Pirates football team, barbecue plate sale and the Purple/Gold spring football game.

Friday, April 21

* 5:30 p.m.: Gates to Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium and concession stands open

* 7 p.m.: Parade of Pigs. Marching Pirates and cheerleaders accompany the delivery truck through the confines of Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium to kick off the pig-cooking competition. Attendees will be able to view the grill setups and displays of the 40 pig-cooking competitors.

* 7:30 p.m.: Movie Night showing of "Invincible" on the jumbo screen on the scoreboard. Free. Attendees may sit on the field or in the stands. Concessions will be available for purchase; outside food and beverages are not permitted. Blankets are allowed, but not lawn chairs.

* 9-10 p.m.: Live music by 15-year-old Greenville singer/songwriter Caroline Dare, recognized by the Nashville Songwriters Association as "One to Watch." Free.

* 11 p.m.: Stadium closes to the public.

Saturday, April 22

* 7:30 a.m.: Pigs cooked by 40 teams will be judged by North Carolina Pork Council certified judges.

* 9 a.m.: Tailgating lots open. All of parking lots will be open. Free. Spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Bring your tailgate set-up.

* 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.: Kids Zone opens in the parking lot outside of Gate 6 at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. Free. Bouncy houses and other kids' games will be offered.

* 11:30 a.m.: Barbecue plates for sale for $8 each. The meal will include pork barbecue and fixins. Beverages and additional concessions will be available for purchase. A drive-through location will be accessible along Ficklen Drive.

* 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.: Tent area opens in the parking lot just outside of Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium by Gate 5 and 6. There will be seating for eating purchased barbecue plates, live music by Greenville's The Main Event band and raffle giveaways.

* 11:30 a.m.-noon: Team Meet and Greet. The 2017 Pirates football team will sign autographs and mingle with fans. Schedule cards and 2107 football posters will be available.

* 1-1:30 p.m.: PeeDee's Birthday Party, with face painting and free cupcakes to the first 100 kids.

* 1 p.m.: Gates to Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium open

* 2 p.m.: Purple/Gold Spring Football Game. Free.
