Humane Society benefit is set for April 8

The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina's A Night To Paws benefit will be held from 6-10 p.m. April 8 at 400 Saint Andrews, event space at 400 St. Andrews Dr. in Greenville. The fundraising evening includes a free cocktail hour, buffet dinner and entertainment by DJ Thomas Gaskill. There also will be a silent auction and a raffle of a piece of jewelry donated by Bailey's Fine Jewelry. The event will be emceed by WNCT-TV morning anchor Maria Satira, a Humane Society of Eastern Carolina board member. Tickets are $60 per person. A limited number of tickets are available; to reserve tickets, email "With fundraisers such as A Night to Paws, we are able to provide a safe haven for the homeless and neglected pets in our community until they find their forever home," said a statement from the nonprofit organization. "We would not be able to save hundreds of dogs and cats each year without your support." The HSEC website notes that 742 cats and dogs were saved in 2016. The Humane Society of Eastern North Carolina does not receive any funding from the Humane Society of the United States or from any government agency. The society's work is made possible through fundraisers and community donations. The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina is at 3520 Tupper Drive, Greenville. Adoption Center hours are 1-5 p.m. Fridays-Sundays.
