Academy of Country Music New Male Vocalist nominee Chris Janson will headline the Farmville Dogwood Festival Bash, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29.
Janson's song "Buy Me a Boat," from his debut album, was No. 1 on the iTunes Country chart and a Top 5 Hit on the Hot Country Songs chart.
The 30-year-old singer/songwriter from Missouri "brings a blue-collar, working-class, boot-stomping hillbilly swagger to bear on every live performance," according to his biography on CMT.com.
Also on the concert bill are Waterloo Revival and North Carolina's Justin West Band.
Admission to the concert is $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. Kids ages 6 and under will be admitted at no charge. Tickets may be purchased at the Farmville Town Hall Municipal Building, 3672 North Main St., or online.
The concert will be held on West Horne Avenue adjacent to the athletic field.
Bring your lawn chair and your cooler. Beer and wine is allowed, but no hard liquor or glass of any type will be allowed in the concert venue.
Tailgating tent spots are available for $50 a spot; the gates open for tailgating at 4 p.m. For tailgating spots, visit Town Hall or call 252-753-5814.
The Farmville Dogwood Festival will be held April 27-30 in the central business district of the Pitt County town. The weekend street festival has been held for 30 years and has been honored as a Legacy Festival by the United States Library of Congress.
