Purple and gold color run planned for April 8

The Color My College All Purple & Gold 5K is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. April 8 at East Carolina University's North Recreational Complex, 3764 U.S. 264. Participants may run, walk or dance through the 5K course, getting blasted with Pirate purple and gold along the way. It's a fun run, so it's not timed; organizers say you can crawl if you'd like. After dark, participants will glow under the black lights at the Color My College Paint Party. The party features a DJ spinning party music, freebies, color throws and color cannons. The event, which is open to the public, is the first ever day-to-night Color My College 5K event in Greenville. It's hosted by ECU Campus Recreation & Wellness Student Leadership Committee. Festivities begin with a pre-party at 6 p.m. including a Zumba pump-up, contests and prizes. Individual registration is $35 through April 7 and $50 the day of the event. Kids ages 12 and under race for free (there is a maximum of two free child registrations for each registered 5K participant.) There are discounts for teams of four participants and for students. Registration includes a white Color My College logo tee, a packet of color powder, a race bib, temporary tattoo and eye black stickers. Admission to the after-dark Paint Party only is $15 through April 7 and $20 the day of the event. The Color My College 5K is a rain or shine event, however the ECU color run was postponed due to Hurricane Matthew; those earlier registrations will be honored.

The event benefits the ECU Campus Recreation & Wellness Foundation Fund, which supports student employees in their professional and educational endeavors.
