Little League events raise money for flood victims

Greenville Baseball Gives raised more than $20,000 for area residents impacted by flooding from Hurricane Matthew.

Greenville Little League Baseball players participated in a home run contest and tournament at Elm Street Park Dec. 2-4.

The money was raised by Greenville Baseball Gives families, coaches, young athletes, business supporters and friends of Greenville Little League.

A check for $10,000 was presented to the City of Greenville. Additional funds raised go to the families of players and coaches impacted by the flooding in Greenville.

"This gift will make a direct difference in the lives of many families still recovering from hardships of Hurricane Matthew flooding," Mayor Allen Thomas said.
